Devotion

We don’t have to go outside at all
But I know you’re drawn to the light
I could lie here forever
And I'd like to go with you but if not, then other plans can be arranged
It's something so simple as a text
And something so big as the next....few months
It's a spritz of my perfume
It's your room with a bad view
We'll keep each other company as the night fades and I'll be gone in the morning
You'll awake and smell that scent but I'll be back on a train....to nowhere
It will be as if it never happened
With a CD in my hand given to me by you
We will go our separate ways for a few days and then we'll meet up once again...maybe
Preferably in our world of shapes and shadows
We'll laugh at the people who care about numbers and names
Then we'll join in the party again, lit up under the spotlight
You love that attention, I just wish it would end
I’m trapped in our world but you wander into the unknown to me
You hear it from your friends, your boss, your mother
The applause, Everyone can see our show
It's something I'd like to change and it's something I don't have a solution for
I wished we were alone
Honesty would  break us
I can close my eyes to the ways I did you harm
You could never approve
I walk away briskly, cold as stone
Quitting you
